A Debutante

A Debutante is one of my early portrait paintings, created more than four years ago. It is a window into the beginning of your lifelong fascination with women as emotional subjects. Looking back at it today, I realize that every artist leaves behind works that cannot simply be repeated. Although my technique has evolved over the years, there is something in this young woman's gaze that still feels mysterious to me.

Rather than portraying outward beauty alone, I wanted to capture that quiet moment between youth and adulthood—a moment when confidence and uncertainty coexist. Her expression invites the viewer to wonder what she sees, what she hopes for, and what future lies just beyond the frame.

In many ways, this early portrait foreshadows themes that would later become central to my work: women, introspection, light, and the unspoken emotions revealed through a single glance.
