Winged Victory of Samothrace (Blue Study) (SOLD – Private Collection)

This painting is my homage to one of the most unforgettable encounters of my first journey to Paris in the summer of 1984.

As a young student with little more than a backpack, a third-class rail pass, and enough money for a baguette and water, I spent my days walking through Paris in a state of wonder. Nothing prepared me for the moment I climbed the grand staircase of the Louvre and stood before the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The sculpture's quiet strength, grace, and timeless beauty left an impression that has remained with me ever since.

Rendered almost entirely in shades of blue, this interpretation is less a study of marble than a memory of awe. It reflects not only one of history's great masterpieces, but also the beginning of a lifelong love affair with Paris, art, and the possibilities they awakened within me.

This original painting now resides in a private collection.
